This banknote commemorates the centennial celebration of Manila Hotel, the oldest five-star hotel in the Philippines. Built in 1909 and opened in July 4, 1912. Manila Hotel celebrated its 100th anniversary in a grand festivity with an unforgettable gala reception on July 4, 2012. It remains as the venue of historical events and the seat of hospitality for the nation’s guests and official visitors.

The banknote is already in full circulation. No words from BSP about this commemorative banknote as of the moment.

Institutional overprints are not allowed on the New Generation Currency (NGC) banknotes, that is why all overprint releases since Dec 2010 are still being printed on the New Design Series (NDS).
